29 weeks and a confession!

WOW! I can't believe the baby is 29 weeks today! It is amazing to me that we have been in third trimester for several weeks. Time is flying by so quickly! We can't wait until baby arrives!!! NO.... we do not yet have a name. We are getting close, but not quite yet. I think Daddy is set on the name, but I just want to be sure! A name is a big deal and I don't want him to hate us years from now because he doesn't like his name! His daddy wants it to be a unique name that no one has. I agree, but it is getting difficult!

His furniture is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. I can't wait to get it. The only thing we really have to do in his room to prepare is hang his new light and clean the carpet. We want everything to be clean clean clean when he arrives!

I LOVE being pregnant, at least now that I am out of first trimester. However, I must admit when Tim and I were in bed the other night I told him that at times I wish he were going through this instead of me... WHY, you ask.... because I DO NOT like the fact that I have to get up in the middle of the night (sometimes, several times) to pee!!! It is frustrating! Not to give you too much information, but I have been one who could practically go all day without peeing! Well, not anymore. Now I go fifty times a day! LOVELY! Also, I am starting to have major problems getting comfortable in bed. During the last trimester, you are not allowed to sleep on your back. The reason for this is it cuts circulation to the umbilical cord. They prefer that you sleep on your left side. I am having a little time adjusting to this. I sometimes feel like I am smashing his head. Tim keeps telling me that there is no way I can squish him, but I am paranoid! I just want the little guy to be perfect! Sometimes Tim will wake me up in the middle of the night and tell me to roll on my side because I have somehow rolled on my back!!! He is such a good daddy! That brings me to a point... I am truly not sure how I would have gotten through these last several months without him! He has been such a big help, given lots of back rubs, and is always supportive of my doctor appointments, etc. He is such a good man! I am so lucky! (of course, he is too.... HA HA) The thing that I feel SO bad that Tim misses is feeling the baby kick. Sure, he feels him all of time on the outside, but it is such an amazing miracle to have the baby inside of you moving around. We often talk about what a true miracle it is and how amazing God is to create such a precious thing. How could anyone want to kill or abort a baby? I can NOT imagine. (well, I better not get started on that.. I could go on for days)

I have a confession to make. Throughout the entire pregnancy I have been unable to handle hamburgers. The thought of them actually makes me sick. I am SO embarrassed to admit this, but the only hamburgers I can eat are White Castles. (I am not even sure if you classify them as hamburgers) Previous to pregnancy the smell of them made me nauseous, but for some reason I love them now. In fact, that is what I had for lunch today..... isn't that horrible!!!!!!! Don't you love pregnancy!!!

Snow... Snow... go away!

What a wonderful Sunday! We are snowed in!!! YUCK! Actually it is nice to have a chance to catch up on things around the house, but Tim and I don't like all of this snow. Please tell me again.... why don't we live in Scottsdale, AZ? Hopefully someday we will!

On Friday Tim and I took the day off of work to go (start) our Christmas shopping. I am ALWAYS finished Christmas shopping by now, but with everything going on, we were running behind. So, we headed to Indianapolis to get some things accomplished. Actually, before we started our Christmas shopping, we had to go order the chair for the nursery. We had previously decided what we wanted, it was just taking time to order it at the boutique in Noblesville or Carmel. The store is called Decor 4 Kids and it is the same place my parents ordered all of the bedding for the nursery. The owner is an interior designer and she is very helpful in deciding what to get. Anyway, we ordered the glider/rocker and ottoman and I can't wait to get it. It should arrive in 6 weeks!

After getting the chair ordered, we were on our mission to Christmas shop. We didn't get home until close to midnight, but we got A LOT accomplished. We did take a few breaks, so I could rest my tired feet, but other than that, I felt great!!! We were at Keystone shopping so as always, we ate at The Cheesecake Factory.

Baby also got a lot of things on our shopping adventure. We got his mattress, his special bis phenol-A free bottles, and several things at Babies R Us. He also got a few new outfits, which he absolutely did NOT need, but we couldn't resist!

Each year Tim and I take Laura and her boyfriend Brandon downtown Indianapolis to Christmas shop. It has become a family tradition. We were scheduled to go Saturday, but the weather was forecast to be horrible, so we decided not to chance it. Instead, Tim and I stayed around Muncie, went to the grocery, did more Christmas shopping, and picked up Laura and came home. Brandon ended up coming over and we ordered pizza and hung out. Laura and Brandon rented a movie for us to watch, Mr. Brooks. Apparently it was really good, but of course, I fell asleep about half way through! Laura and Brandon ended up leaving around 1:30 AM or so, but I was oblivious to all of this!!! It was getting bad out about the time they left. A typical one minute and a half drive to Laura's house took them 8 minutes!!! Tim said it wasn't snowing at that time, but the freezing rain and sleet were HORRIBLE!

I think we got around 6-8" of snow. (which isn't bad considering they were forecasting up to 17") This is much better than last year when we were snowed in for 4 or 5 days with no one plowing our roads! I think at that time we had 6' drifts and around 20" or so of snow!!! YUCK! The problem we have this year is the ice underneath all of the snow! Also, we are suppose to have 20-40 mph winds, which will cause major drifting! I have to be VERY careful walking around in this stuff. I have to keep our precious little one safe!!!

We are going to go with Laura and Brandon another day. As soon as they pick out their Christmas from Tim and I, we will be finished!!! Not bad for just getting started!!!

Many... Many... Many Updates

OK... It has been forever since we have updated the blog. We have been so busy with the baby shower, Christmas stuff, getting the nursery ready, etc. I will provide a quick update on what has been going on....

Our baby shower was December 1st. We had a couples shower at the Delaware Country Club. Tim and I both wanted him involved and I think the other men involved had a great time too. We didn't play games or do the typical baby shower stuff. It was more of a social event. We had a great turnout - I think around 102 people. We had great finger foods (ham salad and chicken salad sandwiches, chicken drumettes, cheese and gourmet cracker trays, veggie trays, and fruit trays). The cake was from Taylor's Bakery in Fishers and was fabulous. We had many compliments on the food, especially the cake.
Thanks to everyone that made the event very special. I know my Mom did a lot of prep work for it and it turned out wonderfully. She did a great job on the favors. (see picture)
Laura put together a video of baby pictures of both of us and pictures of Tim and I through the years. She also added pictures of the big sister, Phoebe and the ultrasound pictures of Baby Stover. She did a great job!

We got a TON of stuff. This baby is going to one spoiled baby! (actually he already is) My Mom and I talk all of the time about how if he only knew how much he is already loved. His closet is now FULL of clothes. I can't believe how many he got at the shower. Not to mention how many Mom, Char, and I had already purchased for him! We also got all of his nursery decor from my parents and his stroller from Tim's parents. We are so thankful to everyone who came and shared in our very special day!
Thanks SO much to Chris for taking the pictures. He did a great job!

The day before the shower I took a vacation day and Mom and I went to do final baby shower stuff. We had lunch at Maggiano's. After lunch we ate some of their yummy mints. They exploded in our mouths... check it out!
We also went for a little relaxing time to the spa at Philipes and both had pedicures. Check us out..... look at those sexy legs!!!

On December 13th I had my 28 week doctor's appointment with Dr. White. This was the one where I had to have my gestational diabetes and iron test. Tim ALWAYS goes with me to my appointments. In fact, he hasn't missed one. With all of the problems I have had, he feels better to go. This time, I felt I would be okay to go on my own, since we were not going to have an ultrasound or anything. Since I had to do the test and Mom wanted to meet Dr. White, she decided to go with me. First of all, let me state that I could NEVER EVER EVER go on any kind of no carb no sugar diet. I think I would die. I was SO unbelievably grouchy and starving on the way to the doctor. Just ask my Mom.... she will tell you. The problem is, I should have scheduled the appointment for early in the morning, but dumb me, I schedule everything late in the afternoon so I don't have to miss much work. So, needless to say, since I could not have carbs or sugar ALL day, I was dying. Just a reminder, I am the person that eats cookies, cake, or something with chocolate in it for breakfast. I woke up craving chocolate chip cookies and I almost cried. I had to suffer eating eggs for breakfast and I don't even like eggs. For lunch I had to eat a salad with NO croutons and little salad dressing. It was rough. I ate some cheese for a snack, which was okay. So, we get to the appointment and I went to get the infamous glucola drink, which everyone had told me horrible things about. I must say, it is not what I was expecting. I drank (chugged) it in about 1.5 seconds. My Mom couldn't believe it. I think she was proud of me. After that, we waited to see Dr. White. So here are the details of the appointment.... I gained 4 lbs this month, which means a total gain of 21 lbs. The baby had hiccups when they were getting his heart rate which was hysterical. It was probably due to the fact that I chugged that drink! We all cracked up! Anyway, his heart rate was 153. I measured at 29 weeks. That means he is a week ahead, which is great!!! He showed us his butt again and Mom got to feel it! We have an ultrasound on January 8th, just to make sure the two-vessel cord is not hindering him. Obviously based on his size, it is not, but the ultrasound will be awesome because it will be 4D. I am finished with my monthly appointments and I now start my bi-weekly appointments. FUN FUN!!!! I can't believe how quickly time is going. Our little baby will be here before we know it and we can not wait!!!!

Dr. White's office called today and I passed my labs with flying colors. No diabetes, I am not anemic and my protein levels were fine!!!! So.... now I must get back to my sugar..... I MUST HAVE COOKIES..... (By the way, a few weeks ago I baked brownies and I ate the entire pan. A few days later I decided to make more. Tim did get one brownie, but I ate the rest! I am SO bad!)

Stay tuned for pictures of the nursery...... coming soon!!!
