Poor little guy....

Our little man has his first cold and a left ear infection. It all started last Thursday when he was not acting like himself. Liam very rarely cries, unless he is hungry, and Thursday he cried a lot. I knew something was wrong, but we just figured he must be tired because all he wanted to do was sleep and he didn't have a fever. On Friday he seemed better. He was not nearly as fussy and seemed to be more like himself. When Tim got home from work we decided to go to Lowe's and to dinner. We got to Lowe's and for some reason I just felt like Liam was sick. I went to the car with him while Tim finished in Lowe's. When I got to the car, I got all kinds of green junk out of his nose. When Tim came to the car, I told him I thought we needed to head to Primetime Peds to get him checked out. This was like 7:30 PM and I was hoping they were still open. Luckily they do not close until 9:30 PM and they were not busy. We got right in and found out that our poor baby has a cold and a left ear infection! I felt so bad for him. The pediatrician gave him amoxicillin. I really hate that he is only three months old and already has to be on an antibiotic. This is the entire reason we have kept him in so much. I can't believe he got sick. The doctor said he could have picked it up from anywhere. We headed right home and I had a breakdown. Am I a freak for coming home and sobbing because my poor baby has a little cold and an ear infection? I think I must be, but I never want him to be in pain and I was worried sick that he was. I do feel SO fortunate that he has been so healthy and we are so blessed that he is perfect. I would take every pain away from him, if I could! We stayed home all weekend so he could recuperate. He is doing MUCH better. He was pretty fussy Saturday and Sunday, but he is starting to be his old feisty self and I love it! He played and laughed a lot today. He is starting to grab toys and hold on to them. He is so curious and looks around constantly. He is such a precious little guy! Check out this picture of him holding Elmo! He likes Elmo!

Kennedy did not have her first cold until 3 years ans still praise God has never been on an antibiotic. They just get sick sometimes.. not your fault! Love and miss you. I love the new pix!

You are SO not a freak. Because if you were, that would make me one, too. And we both know I'm not... Right?

AP's first cold was the same thing - ear infection too! I really was reluctant to OK the antibiotic. But I asked Dr B to tell me honestly if it were the type of infection that could clear on its own, or if he really thought we needed it. I know there are 2 main types of ear infections... So we did amoxi also. Only problem was that he had a nasty reaction around the end of the round - at the ped's office, they ended up calling it more of a photosensitive reaction to sunlight exposure rather than a drug allergic reaction, but I've never seen such scary hives! Talk about freaked out...... He was about 9 months old.

After that, I hated to even THINK he'd have to have another antibiotic, but when we had the dog bite, it wasn't optional - he had the big time stuff - Augmentin. And no problems! I'm still very thankful that those are the only 2 times in 2.5 years (knock on wood) he's had to have them. I'm more for avoiding them, when possible, rather than overusing them.
